PIP INTERNET WIRELESS BASICS
This is basically how our wireless works.
Lets start with the antenna, There are various types of antenna setups,
the size of the antenna that will be placed on your roof, depends upon
the distance between you and our access point. The bigger the antenna,
the more dbi. The further you are away from the access point, the more power you are going to need.
For Installations that are EXTREMELY close to an access point, a roof mount antenna is not needed.
We can simply use what is commonly referred to as a "rubber ducky antenna".
For an installation a few hundred yards away, we can use a patch antenna.
For an installation for a short distance, we use a rootenna. The radio is actually housed inside the antenna, and mounted on your roof.
For installations up to 26 miles away, with appropriate height, and a CLEAR PATH, (NO TREES!) we use a 24dbi grid antenna.
Radio
On a 2.4 Installation, we will use a Senao CB3 radio, pictured here.
Featuring a 200mw wireless reciever, it is one of the most powerful radios available.
This is what actually brings the internet to your house.
Router
To be shielded from the public eye, or to use more than 1 pc on your connection, a router is necessary.
Included in the install price, you get a wired router. If you wish to be mobile around
your home with your laptop, you will need a wireless router. This is available for an extra $50.
